Ripples of Green

Akshaya Mestry

Alwar City, Rajasthan, India

During a site visit close to Alwar, Rajasthan we got the chance to visit Sagar Lake. A lake, which reflects a beautiful backdrop of the majestic monument ‘Moosi Maharani ki Chhatri’. As we walk past the monument, one comes across the Sagar Kund which offers an alluring view of it's water that ripples hues of green surrounded by series of steps leading to the various Chhatris tucked on the periphery of the lake. This beautiful lake is also considered to be a holy bathing ghat. The scene is a mix of red, white, pastel shades and green of the algae. The picturesque location of the lake surrounded by the Aravalli ranges and the lush green foliage add to the charm of the place.
