This Weekend House Amidst Auroville’s Red Earth Features Indo-French Architecture and Rustic Tones

Updated: Oct 1, 2023

The Brick Abode by Architecture Interspace

Situated near Auroville International Township, this weekend house seamlessly amalgamates local Indo-French architecture with a contemporary yet earthy design.

Guided by the synergy of surrounding context and climatic conditions, this house flourishes amid the region's rich red earth and nurturing lush landscapes. The design defines the character of site and lifestyle of the inhabitants.

The central courtyard is embraced by the L-shaped structure which intertwines lush green vistas while maintaining privacy. The incorporation of Brick Jaali tempers the sun's intensity and maintains a cool ambiance during peak summers.

The interiors are designed to encourage dynamic conversations, featuring a Granite breakfast counter and a pool-side swim-up bar. Locally-sourced exposed Red earth brick walls celebrate the unique character of the town, while waxed Cuddapah stone flooring adds a touch of natural elegance.

The house meticulously combines function and artistry, leaving a lasting impression on all who visit.
